Cotton kernel contains about 2% gossypol, and the content of gossypol in the crude oil is different according to the different oil production process. After refining cottonseed oil, gossypol can be basically removed, and cottonseed meal is usually used as fertilizer.

Pretreatment is a series of treatments such as shelling,shell and kernel separation, flaking and cooking before extracting oil, aiming at removing impurities and making the seed into materials with certain structural properties to meet the requirements of different processes.

01.Shelling
Cottonseed shells are quite hard and contain dark brown pigment and wax. Removing the cottonseed shell can not only improve the oil yield, improve the quality of gross oil and cake, but also reduce the wear of the equipment, increase the effective production of the equipment, and facilitate the follow-up process and the comprehensive utilization of the shell.

02.Flaking
Flaking is the process of making cotton seeds from grain to flake by mechanical action. The purpose of rolling is to destroy the tissue cells of the seed, increase the surface area, shorten the distance of oil outflow, which is good for the extraction of oil and improving the steaming effect.

03.High moisture steamed stir-fry
The main purpose of steaming cottonseed with high water content is to make the protein, gossypol and phospholipid in cottonseed blank more perfect reaction, reduce the content of gossypol in cottonseed oil and reduce the toxicity of gossypol in cottonseed meal by heating under high water condition.

With the help of mechanical external force, the method of extruding the oil from the seeds is called the pressing method of taking oil. Generally, a screw oil presser is used to extract oil. According to whether the raw material needs to be roasted, it can be divided into cold pressing and hot pressing. The oil yield of hot pressing is higher, and the color of the oil is slightly darker, and the oil yield of cold pressing is low, and the color of the oil is light.

Because of the high oil content of rapeseed, the pressed rapeseed cake meal still has a high oil content, and the rapeseed oil solvent extraction device can extract rapeseed oil from the oilseed to the maximum extent.

The solvent extraction process has four processes. They are solvent systems, desolvent systems, condensing systems and recovery systems.

Generally, unrefined oil is called crude oil, which often contain a range of impurities, such as suspended impurities, moisture, phospholipids, free fatty acids, pigments, waxes, etc. The removal of these impurities can make the acid value, peroxide value, moisture content, color and odor of the oil meet the qualified standard, which is beneficial to improve the safety and storage stability of the oil. Refining process can be divided into degumming, deacidification, decolorization, deodorization and dewaxing steps according to the requirements.
